About Me
I have worked with people over the last twenty five years in different capacities, most recently as a counsellor at The Swan Project in Bristol for four years, offering low cost counselling to people experiencing addiction. I have many years experience working therapeutically with adults using Journey Work, a therapy that uses guided visualisation to access underlying emotions and to work through them. I have also worked with pregnant women and their partners as a Hypnobirthing Childbirth Educator. Previous roles include public health research and university teaching, and working internationally for different development organisations.
One of my particular interests is in the relationship between the mind and the body, and how trauma and emotions from childhood can impact life in the present, including in the form of physical symptoms.
I am passionate about supporting people to live their best lives, starting with myself. I have worked on my own self development for the last two decades and as a result I am more content and am living my life more from the present moment.
I have a level 6 Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling from the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC). I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), a professional association for members of the counselling profession in the UK. I am fully insured and have regular supervision of my work, in line with the requirements of the BACP.
